At Home in the Future – with Home Live Art at Royal Holloway University


‘At Home in the Future’ was a participatory stall commissioned by Home Live Art at the beginning of March for their scientific twist on their regular event ‘The Alternative Village Fete’ for the open day at the Royal Holloway University.
We responded to the theme of ‘Storytime Science’ proposing ‘At Home in the Future’ as our stall, inviting young members of the public to become ‘architects of the future’ and respond to our brief and design futuristic homes considering energy-efficiency, materials, climate and resources. With Maddy Shipman assisting we engaged around 120 young people throughout the day. The fantastical, practical and well-considered homes they designed were brilliant – the world’s future is in good hands…
