The FOOD + ART festival at Borough Market saw the best of both worlds come together for an afternoon of looking and eating.
We were invited by Alex Ressel, the producer of Southwark Arts Forum, the event’s organisers, to run a stall which would not only combine both elements of the event, but also be an interactive and participatory way of doing so.
We proposed ‘Demolish a Biscuit’, which invited passers by to think of a building they thought London is better without, draw it onto rice paper and ice it onto a biscuit to then consume and ‘demolish’. The stall went down very well with around 40 people participating throughout the day, prompting some fascinating conversations, laughs and rants about regeneration in the city and the ever-changing London skyline. A brilliant afternoon.
